The iconic Porsche 911 doesn’t need a mechanical makeover, but for the 2022 model year, it will receive some tech updates and a headline-grabbing price bump.
For the first time, even the least-expensive model of 911 will cost six figures.
That price tag will now get you Android Auto, though. The 911 has supported Apple Carplay since 2017 and has finally added support for the other major smartphone system via its 10.9-inch touchscreen. But only Apple CarPlay will be wireless on the latest 911.
Other upgrades include a 3-year trial (previously just one year) of the Porsche Connect suite of services, which includes natural-language navigation, traffic updates, and satellite radio. “Customers can choose to extend wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto compatibility at the time of ordering the 911 prior to production for $360, or at a higher price as a Function on Demand after the three years is up,” the company says.
For models equipped with the PDK dual-clutch transmission, Porsche has added Remote Park Assist, a new 3D Surround View, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Lane Change Assist.
